Join us Aug. 23 for Purdy Elementary “Clean-Up Day”

Join the Purdy Elementary School community as we come together to help spruce up our school grounds before students return. If you’re able to attend on Sunday, August 23rd, please bring any tools that might be helpful, such as weed trimmers, rakes, pruning shears, work gloves, and a water bottle. Everyone in the family can come pitch in. For new kindergarten families or those new to our community, this is a fun opportunity to get a sneak peek at your school. We appreciate any time you’re able to give between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm!

Thank You, Purdy Community!

As we wrap up the 2025-2026 school year, we want to send a huge THANK YOU out to all 181 of you who attended the biannual auction in support of the Purdy Elementary School PTA!

Thanks to 166 generous individuals and business who donated a total of 201 items to help fundraise an incredible $89,000… This means that we met our fundraising goal and managed our budgeted expenses, which achieves the ultimate goal of securing funding for Purdy PTA sponsored events and programs for the next TWO YEARS! The ‘fund a need’ paddle even raised $8,200 for the new building chairs/rugs for each classroom, which is an enormous amount to go towards upgrading each classroom in a tangible, visible way.

This event would not have been possible without the PTA chairs and event organizers for the auction. Our immense gratitude goes out to those PTA members and volunteers! It’s important to mention that many of them will no longer be at Purdy for the next auction in the spring of 2028. In order for the next auction to be as successful, we need people to start getting involved now and learning more about the PTA. The next auction will come up fast, even when 2 years sounds like a long time away.

Please join us for our upcoming Purdy PTA Meeting on Tuesday, June 16th from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in the Purdy Elementary School Library. We hope to see you there! If you can’t join in person, hop on via Zoom: https://zoom.us/j/99898226797

For more fun photos from the auction, you can check out the Booth Seattle website: https://www.boothseattle.com/events/purdy-2026 (if asked to log in, just click “cancel”)

Purdy Staff Appreciation Week starts soon!

It’s the best time of year when we get to spoil all the teachers and staff and thank them for taking such great care of the students at Purdy! Staff Appreciation Week is May 48 this year. We’re seeking volunteers to help set up and clean up, draw prizes & donate food items throughout the week. The schedule and sign up link are just below and more information about how students can get involved is in the flyer at the end of this post.

Sign up to volunteer or donate items here!

  • Monday, May 4 – Desserts & drinks
  • Tuesday, May 5 – Catered lunch, plus desserts & drinks
  • Wednesday, May 6 – Pancake breakfast
    • For breakfast on Wednesday, please have items there right at 8am (or you can drop off the day before)
  • Thursday, May 7 – Baked potato bar, plus desserts & drinks
  • Friday, May 8 – Sandwiches, salads, plus desserts & drinks

(We are asking for desserts and drinks every day. Drinks and desserts are for lunch, so please drop off at 11am. There are just under 70 staff at Purdy.)

Your help would also be greatly appreciated the Friday before, May 1, at 3:30pm to set up the staff lounge. Because this was an auction year, we are doing a little spin on the teacher door decorations to take the burden off families and will need help hanging those as well.

If you want to help plan the week or you want to support but cannot do drop offs, please reach out to Julie Hoffman to join the committee or to arrange pick ups: 949-422-7196 or julianabell@yahoo.com

Thank you so much! We couldn’t do this without you!

See Your Photos in the Purdy Elementary School 2025-2026 Yearbook!

We are just two weeks away from the deadline to submit photos for the Purdy Elementary School 2025-2026 Yearbook. The PTA team is hard at work designing the yearbook and it looks amazing! We are still in need of photos from the first day of school, kindergarten jumpstart, Valentine’s day, field trips or candids from any grade. Would your student be thrilled to see themself in the yearbook? If so, please send us your photos today!

(Please make sure any pictures you email in are full size, not thumbnails. Otherwise they are too blurry and can’t be used.)

Don’t forget to purchase a yearbook for your student so that they have a special keepsake from the 2025-2026 school year at Purdy Elementary. Scan the QR code below or visit www.BuyTheYearbook.com and use school code 731571 to find Purdy.

4 Ways to Get Involved in our “Under the Sea” Auction on March 28th

For over ten years, the primary fundraiser for the Purdy PTA has been the bi-annual Auction. This school year, the PTA goal is to raise $100,000 through the PTA “Under the Sea” Auction on March 28th, 2026 at Canterwood Golf & Country Club to fund programming for the next two years. Meeting our fundraising goals every two years is critical for sustaining the programs our families and staff rely on. Learn more in this PTA FAQ and read on to find out how you can help…

  1. Volunteer on the night of the auction, March 28th! Tickets to the auction are already sold out, but if you sign up for a volunteer time slot, you will get a free ticket to the auction (including dinner and a bidder number) to enjoy the rest of the event before/after your volunteer time. Volunteers are most-needed for the second shift from 7:30-11 pm. Duties may include closing out silent auction items, inputting data, checking guests out, and helping with clean up.
  2. Donate wine! We are seeking wine valued at $30 or more. Donated bottles will be used for our popular wine pull fundraiser at the auction. Every bottle helps!
    • Call or text to arrange a pick-up or delivery: Stephanie Moore at (206) 819-7277
  3. Donate… other items! Does your family or friend own a local business? Are you an artist or builder who makes custom goods? If you are interested in contributing an item, a basket or a gift certificate to our fundraising auction, we love to feature local business and locally-made items!
    • Please fill out this form and we will contact you to arrange pickup of your donation or gift certificate — Questions? Contact: Maria Beaudette at (425) 922-9856
  4. Contribute to your students’ classroom basket or art project! Each class at Purdy Elementary School puts together a themed basket and a “made for auction” item for the big night. If you have a student at Purdy, we encourage you to help out with their classroom basket! (coordinated by the designated classroom parents)

If you’re not able to participate in any of the ways above, we are always looking to grow our PTA and invite you to join us! Many of the current PTA members have students in 5th grade and will be moving on after this year. The reality is that without the support of more volunteers, many of the events and programs that make our school such a wonderful and special place could fade away. Please purchase your PTA membership here.

Show some LOVE for the Purdy PTA by donating wine for the March 28th Auction

    Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are currently seeking wine bottle donations valued at $30 or more for our upcoming Purdy Elementary PTA Auction on March 28, hosted at the Canterwood Golf and Country Club. Every bottle helps! Your generous contribution will directly support critical programs at our school and help make this event a success.

Donated bottles will be used for our popular wine pull fundraiser at the auction. To make donating as easy as possible, I am happy to arrange porch pick-ups at your convenience.

Thank you so much for considering a donation and for supporting our school community. Your generosity truly makes a difference.

    Warm regards,

    Stephanie Moore
